We build the software we wanted for our own voice.
We got tired of every new productivity app shipping our content through someone else's cloud. Dictation is the most intimate way to work with a computer, because you say out loud what you would otherwise only think. That belongs on your own machine.
Mission
People should be able to operate their computer with their voice without giving up confidentiality, speed or offline reliability. That only works if the AI runs on the device in front of them.
Values
Local-first is not a marketing word.
We build software that does not need our servers to work. If we disappeared tomorrow, your dictation would still run.
Privacy you can verify.
We document the data flow. We do not send content to the cloud. We say no when we do not have a certification yet.
Speed is a feature.
The latency between speaking and seeing text is the metric we care about. Everything else is downstream of it.

We charge €9 a month because we built the product that justifies it. No tricks, no annual lock-in.
Who builds it
Penwright is proudly built by Coding Partners, a small product studio that builds software it uses every day. Penwright started as an internal tool, because no dictation app on the market met the one requirement we had for ourselves: nothing leaves the machine.
It also means we are the first users. Every feature has to survive a working day in the studio before it ships.
